About Asha kiran
The Karnataka Federation For The Blind ® was started on 01st Aug 1990. The main aim of the institution is to make the visually impaired people lead a happy and independent life in this competitive world. In order to achieve this goal, our federation had started a special residential school for the visually impaired in a rented home at Chikmagalur in 1990 with 12 visually impaired children. To accomodate the incresing strenth this school has been shifted to ‘Jeevan Sandhya’ (It is the home for the aged). After the completion of seven successful years, our federation constructed a grand and well-equipped building at Rathnagiri Extension, Chikmagalur. The administration body of the federation took the financial and constructional responsibilities of the building. The new building was inaugurated on 21st December 1997 by Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt. It was named as Asha kiran Residential School for the Blind Children. The school is imparting normal syllabus through Braille script. Specially trained teachers are imparting education to the visually impaired children using special aids and appliances. Today the institution has become successful in its vision.
